I spent this weekend with Tracey Spurgin at Craftworx , a jewellery studio in Beverley, Yorkshire. The studio is on a farm and I love going up there, such a lovely environment to work in. The weekend class was a private tuition on stone setting. I have done stone setting previously but I wanted to learn more techniques and really get some one to one support with it to feel like I could master it. I really feel I am in a position to practice this myself now which is exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend taking classes with Tracey. She is an excellent tutor, very clear with lots of excellent ideas for ways of doing things that I hadn't thought of.

I’m feeling happy today as over the last three days I have gone through all my jewellery making and other crafting related tools and goodies to check what I've got and to organise everything. It took me quite a bit of time over those three days and I have re-listened to the Undisclosed podcast ! (If you listened to Serial you really need to listen to Undisclosed. They blow Serial out of the water in terms of revelations about the case and Susan Simpson is my new hero). Anyway! Here are some before and after shots.  Before After Honestly, the main organising is internal. In my drawers all the items are organised in themed bags e.g. polishing. I went through all my little storage boxes and labelled them and ensured they were properly organised too. I even managed to sort through a drawer under the bed that is just devoting to crafting! And I managed to find something in there I had been looking for for a while! It's interesting how getting organised m...

I’m interested in the trend of stud earrings that have become known as 'front and back earrings'. The back of them is also designed, usually to hang down behind the ear. I really love this innovative idea. These earrings from Laonato on Etsy are my current favourites At the moment I am collecting some images using pinterest (an obsession of mine!) so do have a look!  Have you bought a pair of these? decisions decisions A couple of months ago I met up with a friend who I used to teach alongside at a college. She was still teaching four days a week in a school but was considering giving up her job and had asked to meet with me to discuss it. Up until two years ago I worked full time (and then some as I also taught evenings and some weekends on top of that). I gave up my full time work in order to have a more balanced life, teaching part time and working on developing my jewellery practice. My income has declined drastically but my happiness and feeling of wellbeing has increased and more than makes up for it. So I met with my friend and she explained that she had been thinking about handing in her notice to devote more time to a year long nutrition coaching course she'd enrolled on and then doing some supply work. She asked me what I thought. I said,  if you're asking me you've already decided what to do.   I could see the revelation of that fact appearing on...

Soldering on metal clay at the London Jewellery School Yesterday I taught a soldering on metal clay class at the London Jewellery School . It is quite a specialised class and it is only the second time I've run it . I had three lovely students with an enthusiasm for metal clay! We made stud earrings, cufflinks and a brooch.
