Selling jewellery at Kings Cross St Pancras station

Firstly, sorry for my extended absence on the blog. It's been a really busy few months as we have packed up everything and moved from London to Edinburgh! More on that in future blog posts! Last week I delivered my silver jewellery bee range to the Things British store in Kings Cross St Pancras station, London. Things British sell handcrafted items made in the UK. They work on a rent a shelf basis, are open 7 days a week and the artist gets 100% of the sale price (excluding card fees). I previously sold my jewellery in their other shop in Greenwich, London a couple of years ago and I thought I would give this store a try to see how it goes. Preparing the stock takes time! I decided to focus on my bestselling range which is the bee range and so I have only taken that design. I made the range in different shapes, sizes and jewellery type including cufflinks. Soldering the cufflinks and stud backs, getting and adding the chain to the necklaces, writing out the price lab...

Adding gold to my range

The original silver bee pendant and the rose gold version, Campbell Hall designs I've been working to develop the totem collection and have had a piece rose gold plated. I work in silver so getting pieces gold plated is a way to appeal to those who prefer to wear gold as well as adding value to the range.  I'm pleased with the result and am currently wear testing it to ensure I am happy to put them up for sale. I'll blog about it when I have the first of the range available in gold.

Boost your jewellery business - rent a shelf (reblog)

It was Business Week at the London Jewellery School last week and I wrote a few blog posts for this. Here is one I wrote that was originally published by them If selling your work in a jewellery shop or gallery feels like a step too far why not consider renting a shelf? Jewellery artist and tutor Anna Campbell writes about the pros and cons of selling your work in shops. Selling your jewellery online is a rewarding experience but nothing beats seeing your work on sale in an actual shop. Jewellers and galleries will often expect a low wholesale price in order to make their money and this can be off-putting. However, there are now more and more options to rent a shelf in a shop to see how your work sells. How do I find somewhere to sell? Local shops I would recommend going into local shops and cafes that sell handmade items and ask. Many shopkeepers are interested in having goods that are locally made and have a story to them. Go in prepared to show your jewellery but ...

New silver jewellery range

I've been working on a new range of silver jewellery and it's nearly ready to launch (is anything ever really ready?!).  It comprises of three collections The be collection The bee range is a delightful play on words and is  perfect for those who like their jewellery to make them smile . A cute bee sits on a honeycomb textured front and on the reverse is your chosen word.  For example be loved, be free, be happy etc The totem collection I love that jewellery is personal and has a meaning to the person that wears it. With this in mind I have developed the totem collection. A totem is a symbol that you choose of your personal or spiritual identity. I currently have the following totems Bee - symbolic of achieving the impossible Hummingbird - symbolic of energy Owl - symbolic of wisdom and learning Butterfly - symbolic of transformation and change Shell - symbolic of affinity with the sea Flower - symbolic of growth and blossoming The pieces ca...
