Edinburgh jeweller

Yesterday I taught the button jewellery taster class at the London Jewellery School . It's good fun and a great way of upcycling what you've got in your button box! The class is great because you make a bracelet, earrings and a necklace and you have lots of colours to choose from! You can see some of the students work in progress here, including a necklace inspired by the Ikea colours! I really enjoy teaching the Fashion Jewellery day class at the London Jewellery School . During the class we talk about where to get inspiration, create mood boards and then the students let loose with beads, chain, fabric, ribbon, cords, feathers, buttons - whatever they feel like! They tend to make two pieces, usually a neck piece and earrings. It's often a process of trial and error, seeing what works and what doesn't but then that is what jewellery designing is about! And I'm there to give advice individually to the students about how to make their design a reality.  Here are some images of work in progress from the class that I ran this week. BEFORE  I has some time off last week and decided it was time to jazz up the mirror in my hallway. It was painted a teal colour (which matches the living room) but it was a bit plain and I had some buttons in a cardboard box not being used! We glued them on in a mosaic-type pattern. It was fun to try to make them fit! AFTER I'm pleased with the results - definitely not plain anymore!

A bit of a showery day today so I decided to tidy up my button stash from this To this! I got these little jars (they are only 8cm tall) in one of those hardware shops that sells everything. I'm thinking of using them at christmas for cute packaging for my sweetie bracelets
